Former President Donald Trump recently made headlines with a controversial statement on his social media app Truth Social. In a hypothetical scenario where Iran attempts to assassinate him, Trump vowed revenge, declaring that if such an event were to occur, he hopes America would obliterate Iran.
Trump’s strong words were accompanied by a video clip of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressing Congress about the ongoing hostile relationship between Iran and the United States. Netanyahu referenced Iran’s history of aggression towards America, including recent threats to assassinate Trump.
The heightened security presence around Trump in response to a suspected assassination plot from Iran further fuelled speculation about the president’s safety. However, sources revealed that the gunman who recently attempted to assassinate Trump in Pennsylvania was likely not connected to this alleged plot.
In response to the accusations, a spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry denied any involvement in the armed attack on Trump, stating that Iran intends to pursue legal action against the former president for his role in the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani.
Despite the tension, Trump is set to meet with Netanyahu at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, highlighting the ongoing geopolitical complexities and conflicts in the region.
